Based on the book: Classroom Instruction that Works by Marzano et al, this presentation explores 9 simple teaching strategies that can be incorporated into all grade levels and across different subject areas as a means of improving student learning. Concrete examples, graphic organizers and activities are used to help bring these strategies to life in any classroom.

There is an almost limitless supply of materials available online that help support the incorporation of these 9 strategies into our teaching of any subject. Below is a list of some of our favorite online tools and materials.

Classroom Instruction that Works: PowerPoint presentation for general ed teachers about the 9 strategies for successful student learning, including a rationale and introduction, as well as specific examples for each strategy. If you are a language teacher, you can download this version of the PowerPoint and a handout with short overview of the 9 strategies.

Handout/Packet: MS Word document with more information about the strategies, black-and-white line masters with useful graphic organizers, thematic unit and lesson examples, along with activities that will help teachers explore the strategies by connecting them to their own subject/content area and grade level.
